Taylor Swift Scores Royal Selfie at London Concert
Ahead of her Wembley performance, Taylor Swift captured the ultimate royal selfie, posing backstage with the Prince of Wales and his children, Prince George and Princess Charlotte. The picture, shared by Kensington Palace on X (formerly Twitter), showed the trio beaming alongside the pop superstar before her Friday night concert.
“Thank you, Taylor Swift, for a wonderful evening!” read the palace’s caption.
Prince William, celebrating his 42nd birthday, earned top dad points by bringing his two eldest children to the sold-out show. It was a whirlwind birthday week for William, who had just returned from Germany after watching England’s Euro 2024 match against Denmark.
Adding to the excitement, Swift posted another selfie featuring her boyfriend, NFL star Travis Kelce, alongside the royal family. “Happy Bday M8! London shows are off to a splendid start,” Swift’s post read.
Later, videos of the concert went viral, showing Prince William dancing to Swift’s hit “Shake It Off.” Meanwhile, Catherine, Princess of Wales, stayed home with their youngest child, six-year-old Prince Louis. However, Louis wasn’t left out of the celebrations, as an official photo of him was released earlier that day to mark William’s birthday.
Swift and Prince William share a history, having performed together with Jon Bon Jovi at a Kensington Palace charity event in 2013.
Swift’s London show was the first of eight at Wembley Stadium, with nearly 90,000 fans in attendance, some of whom queued from the early hours of the morning. Her Eras Tour, which spans multiple UK cities including Edinburgh, Liverpool, and Cardiff, takes fans on a journey through her extensive discography, featuring songs from albums like “1989,” “Red,” and “Midnights.”
The star-studded audience included Bridgerton’s Nicola Coughlan, Labour leader Sir Keir Starmer, Queer Eye’s Jonathan Van Ness, and model Cara Delevingne. Swift’s parents, Andrea and Scott, were also present to support their daughter.
Reflecting on her time in London, where she once lived, Swift called it “the most exhilarating city in the world.”
