Fatal Collision at Israeli Bus Stop Leaves One Dead, Dozens Injured in Suspected Terror Attack
A man has been killed and over 30 people injured after a truck struck pedestrians at a bus stop near an Israeli military base just north of Tel Aviv. Authorities are currently investigating the incident as a potential terror attack.
The collision occurred as a group of pensioners disembarked from a bus, heading to a nearby museum. Eyewitnesses described a chaotic scene, with many injured lying on the ground or trying to walk away from the damaged truck. “Eight people were trapped beneath the vehicle, with others hurt nearby,” reported a medic from Israel’s Magen David Adom (MDA) emergency service.
The driver, identified as Rami Natur, an Arab Israeli from Qalansawe in central Israel, was fatally shot at the scene by a civilian.
Emergency services arrived at the Glilot Junction around 10:00 a.m. local time (08:00 GMT) to tend to the injured, with responders facing a scene of shattered glass and wreckage. Yechiel Ben Moshe, one of the retirees in the group, described the terrifying moment: “The truck came up behind us at full speed. At first, it looked like an accident, but then shots were fired at the attacker.”
Following the incident, far-right National Security Minister Itamar Ben-Gvir, who oversees the police, demanded that the family of the suspected attacker be expelled from Israel.
With ongoing conflicts on Israel’s borders, this attack brings new focus to the growing threat of internal violence from individuals using vehicles as weapons within Israel’s borders.
